MY MARTIAL ARTS JOURNEY & COACHING PHILOSOPHY
My journey into martial arts began as a teenager at The Rising Crane Centre in Bedford, where I first trained in Kung Fu. From there, my passion evolved into Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and I began competing with the goal of becoming a coach in the sport.
Years later, I became the Head Coach of one of Bedford’s most successful MMA schools. During my time there, we proudly secured National, British, and European MMA titles, testament to the dedication, discipline, and skill of our students and team.
I’m committed to researching and training with the most up-to-date, effective techniques whether they’re applied in real-world self-defence or high-level competition. My approach focuses on high-percentage, proven methods that allow students to build strong fundamentals quickly and efficiently. Rather than learning each martial art in isolation, I streamline the process so you progress faster and smarter.
My coaching style is comprehensive, methodical, and detail-oriented. I’m passionate about helping students reach their full potential whether they’re training for fun, fitness, personal growth, or to step into the cage. I’ve had the privilege of guiding many individuals to achieve improved physical and mental wellbeing, as well as competitive success.

JIM TAYLOR
Dedicated to martial arts since childhood, Jim began his journey at the age of five at The Rising Crane, inspired by his father’s encouragement. His early training in Kung Fu laid a strong foundation in discipline, focus, and technique. Over the years, he evolved his practice into MMA, embracing a well-rounded approach that integrates both traditional and modern martial arts philosophies.
In early 2024, Jim joined our team under Lee’s mentorship. Since then, he has been an integral part of our community actively training, coaching, and helping students unlock their potential both physically and mentally. His passion for martial arts extends beyond the mat, emphasizing personal growth, resilience, and balance in all aspects of life.
